Our Partners

New Horizons Foundation could not function without the generous support of these partners, who have decided to join us in the journey of transforming Romania for the better through the power of education.

Romanian-American Foundation

RAF has been NHF’s strategic partner since 2010, and has supported us both in the national scale-up of the IMPACT model, as well as in vital organizational development which equipped us to better identify systemic needs and re-think our interventions to best respond to those needs. Currently, RAF co-finances the GreenIMPACT program, a branch of the IMPACT service-learning clubs which focus exclusively on areas with ecotourism potential and have the goal of implementing projects focused on the conservation and promotion of natural and cultural heritage.

Mott Fundation

The Mott Foundation was first started in 1926 in Flint, Michigan (USA) with a donation of a mere 320,000 dollars. Now, the Foundation has offices in three countries, an annual grant budget of approximately 115 million dollars, and collaborates with local organizations on every continent except Antarctica. In 2016, New Horizons Foundation joined the list of organizations supported by Mott, with our Community Schools project, through which we plan to build the first network of community schools in Romania.

Lidl

In 2016, donation boxes at Lidl check-out lines raised a total of 810,000 RON (approximately 200,000 dollars), a sum to which the company added another 410,000 RON (100,000 dollars). In 2017, the company decided to continue the practice of donating to organizations working for humanitarian causes, and chose New Horizons Foundation and IMPACT as their first partner for the year.

Rotary Visio Cluj-Napoca

The Cluj-Napoca Rotary Club, which started in 2011, has donated the proceeds from its 2016 and 2017 annual fundraisers to support the IMPACT program. In 2016, the donations were used to support IMPACT clubs who implemented service-learning projects during Școala Altfel week, and this year the donations will be used to support the start-up of Green IMPACT clubs.

Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme

In 2016, New Horizons Foundation began implementing a project called “Motivated Teachers, Youth Prepared for Life!” which was co-financed by a grant from the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme, through Swiss Contributions to the greater European Union. This project allows us to bring the IMPACT program into rural settings throughout Romania, where we are opening 20 clubs in remote village schools.

Auchan

The Auchan Youth Foundation (Fundația Auchan pentru Tineri), which works to add value to communities where there are Auchan stores, supported two New Horizons Foundation projects in 2016: “”Communicators of Generation Z,” which worked to help 10 IMPACT clubs identify and publicize young role models in their communities, and “Less is More,” which invited 10 IMPACT clubs from northeastern Romania to learn about and promote responsible consumption. Auchan Romania consistently promotes social responsibility and youth integration, as well as environmental protection projects.

Ciclaton

Ciclaton is the first cycling fundraising event in Romania, raising money for a variety of educational causes, including IMPACT.  In 2015, money raised from Ciclaton supported over 30 service-learning projects that were done by IMPACT clubs during the Școala Altfel.  In 2016, Ciclaton financed over 50 service-learning projects done through the “Motivated Teachers, Youth Prepared for Life!” project.

Enel

The Enel Group serves over 2.8 million clients in Romania through its supply and distribution networks, and Enel Green Power operates centers for energy production from renewable sources.  The company collaborated with New Horizons Foundation in 2016 for the project “Ecotourism in the Jiu Valley,” which included constructing and marking mountain biking trails on Straja Mountain, mapping trails and local tourist attractions (physically and on GPS), creating an online portal to promote the Jiu Valley, and developing competencies in the area of ecotourism and mountain biking amongst local youth.
